Periodontal Treatment

LET'S PREVENT FURTHER DESTRUCTIONS through Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal Treatment includes professionally cleaning the pockets around teeth to prevent damage to surrounding bone.

Periodontal Treatment is to clean out bacteria from the pockets around the teeth and prevent further destruction of bone and tissue. Good oral hygiene. Regular brushing with a soft brush and fluoride toothpaste can help prevent gum disease. Advanced cases may require surgery. Non-surgical periodontal treatment does have its limitations. When it does not achieve periodontal health, surgery may be indicated to restore periodontal health.

Causes

While smoking is one of the biggest causes of gum diseases, there are other reasons your gums could get infected. Some of these causes include hormonal changes, diabetes, medications that lessen the flow of saliva, and viral infections. To prevent gum diseases, make sure you get your teeth cleaned professionally once every 6 months so that excess and tartar is removed to keep your mouth healthy and free of bacteria.

Diagnosis

There are many ways your dentist can diagnose gum diseases. Using a probe, which works as a ruler, to measure pockets around the teeth is one of the fastest and painless ways to examine the mouth for gum inflammations. Healthy gums will measure 1-3 mm in depth. It is also important that your dental care professional checks your medical history to further diagnose or even prevent gum diseases. Imaging by doing an X-Ray will also identify any inflammations.
